"Reliable communication quality even for business use"
I had online meetings every day while in Japan, so stable communication was of the utmost importance. The overseas eSIM I used previously had severe delays and sometimes the audio would cut out, but I was surprised that Sakura SIM was as stable as my home Wi-Fi. It supports 5G, so video uploads are smooth. I also feel very secure knowing I'm directly connected to Japan's au (KDDI) network.

"Even my mother could use it; the setup was simple and user-friendly."
I chose Sakura SIM when I traveled to Japan with my mother. The setup was completed simply by scanning a QR code, and my mother's smartphone connected immediately. I think it's designed to be easy to use even for the elderly.

"Zero delays and no stress"
During my stay in Japan, I traveled between Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, and other cities by Shinkansen and train. Although the travel times were long, watching videos while traveling was comfortable and the data capacity was unlimited, so I was able to enjoy my travel time without stress.

"A sense of security that the connection is solid even in rural areas"
I traveled not only to Tokyo, but also to rural areas such as Hakone and Izu, and the connection was solid everywhere. My previous eSIM sometimes lost signal in mountainous areas, but Sakura SIM has always been stable. It's not a roaming eSIM, but connects directly to the network of a major Japanese mobile network operator, so I was able to use it safely even in rural areas.

"Even eSIM beginners can use it without any hesitation."
I was a little nervous because it was my first time using an eSIM, but Sakura SIM's instructions were very thorough and the setup was easy. I connected instantly by simply scanning the QR code. The speed was fast, and I was able to take my university's online classes without any problems.

"Simple and easy to choose! Just choose the number of days."
I compared various SIM services, but Sakura SIM's plans were particularly easy to understand. There are no data limits, so I was able to download videos and movies without worrying. What's more, I simply chose a plan based on the length of my stay, such as 3 days, 5 days, 7 days, or 14 days. The pricing was also clear, so I was grateful that I didn't have to worry about any additional fees.

"Because it's unlimited, I was able to enjoy my trip without worrying about data usage."
I wanted to upload lots of videos of Japan's beautiful scenery to social media, so the unlimited data plan was a real help. I was worried about other companies' SIM plans because they had complicated pricing such as "high-speed data up to x GB," but Sakura SIM's simplicity is appealing; you just choose the number of days. Even when watching videos or live streaming during my trip, the speed never slowed down, making it comfortable.

"It's convenient to choose the length of your stay."
Since we were traveling with our family for five days, the "5-day plan" was perfect. The plan offers unlimited data, so we didn't have to worry about our kids watching YouTube. The plans are based on the number of days, so we could choose the plan that best suited our length of stay. There were no additional charges or complicated settings, so it was stress-free.

FAQ
What is eSIM?
Unlike traditional SIMs, eSIMs are digital rather than a physical card that you insert into your device. You can add a new line using a QR code, no tools or store visits required.
Can I use it on my current smartphone or tablet?
Yes, you can use Sakura eSIM in Japan as long as your device supports eSIM. Most new devices support eSIM, including recent iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones, and Huawei phones. You can check the eSIM-compatible device list to see if your device supports eSIM.
Is Sakura SIM's eSIM better than pocket Wi-Fi?
Sakura SIM's eSIM is the perfect choice for travelers to Japan or those returning home temporarily. Unlike pocket Wi-Fi, there's no need to carry, charge, or risk losing an additional device. To make it easier to use the service, you can simply add it using the QR code sent to your registered email address.
Is there an expiration date for the SIM card I purchased?
The activation period for Sakura SIMs is 180 days from the date of issue. This period marks the date on which the SIM is automatically disconnected from the au (KDDI) network, and communication will no longer be possible after the period has expired. Sakura SIMs will also automatically become invalid upon the earlier of the activation period or the expiration date of your purchase plan (package period). For example, even if you start using a 31-day plan with an activation period of December 31, 2025, on December 29, 2025, you can only use the SIM until December 31, 2025.
Is there a data limit for tethering?
The available internet sharing capacity for each plan is listed in the table below.
How to add an eSIM to your smartphone > Tethering allowance by number of days
*If you exceed the Internet sharing available capacity listed above, a speed limit of 128kbps will be applied to Internet sharing only.
*This applies to internet sharing only. It does not affect the data communication speed of the SIM itself.
