How to add a Sakura SIM eSIM to your smartphone

After purchasing your eSIM, you will receive a QR code and setup instructions via email. You can set up your eSIM using the QR code or manually. If you use the QR code, open the QR code on your computer or other device screen, or print it out.

Below we will explain in detail how to set up an eSIM.

Setting with a QR code

◯ iOS (iPhone)

  1. From the home screen, go to "Settings" > "Mobile" > "Add eSIM" and scan the QR code or enter the code manually.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup and you'll be able to switch over to your existing SIM. We recommend customizing the name of your eSIM for easy identification.
  3. Sakura SIM's eSIM data plan will be activated once you arrive in Japan.
  4. Once you arrive in Japan, open "Settings" > "Mobile" and select the Sakura SIM eSIM under "Mobile Data." Then, turn on data roaming for the Sakura SIM eSIM to connect to the Internet and start using your data plan.

How to set up an eSIM

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Network & Internet.
  3. Tap the add icon next to Mobile Networks.
  4. Scan the QR code
  5. To set up calling and texting, tap the network you're using. Tip: If you want your phone to prompt you to check your network settings every time, tap Ask me every time.

Manual configuration

◯ iOS (iPhone)

Enter your eSIM information manually

  1. Contact your carrier to get the eSIM information you need to enter.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap "Cellular" or "Mobile Data."
  4. Tap Add Cellular Plan.
  5. Tap "Enter details manually" at the bottom of your iPhone screen.
  6. Enter the "SM-DP+ address" and "activation code" listed in the eSIM issuance email in the appropriate fields.
    *The "confirmation code" is optional.

Remove your eSIM

◯ iOS (iPhone)

If you need to erase your eSIM, follow these steps:

1) Open Settings.

2) Tap "Mobile" or "Mobile Data."

3) Tap the plan you want to delete.

4) Tap "Remove Mobile Plan."

◯ Android

For Google Pixel 6a

Remove your eSIM

1) Open the Settings app on your mobile device.

2) Tap Network & Internet then Mobile Networks.

3) Select the eSIM you want to remove.

4) Tap Remove SIM.

Require a password to remove the eSIM

1) Open the Settings app on your mobile device.

2) Tap Security, then Advanced, then Confirm SIM Removal.
